"I don't know, but it looks to me like the high and mighty Prince Vegeta really isn't so mighty after all, now is he?"
Appule in "Piccolo vs. Everyone"

Appule (アプール, Apūru; FUNimation "Appule") is member of Freeza's Force.

Appule's name is a pun on the word Appuru, or Apple in English.

He is of the same race as Orlen and Ramon.

Dragon Ball Z

Appule was one of Freeza's Elite that Freeza dispatched on Planet Namek to search for the Dragon Balls and report any sightings of Namekian villages. He and Zarbon were one of the only henchmen to survive the battle at Dende's village. He found a village Vegeta had destroyed and reported back to Freeza, who then assigned him to oversee Vegeta's recovery. (Note that in the anime, Appule's role as the henchman who found the destroyed village was taken over by an unnamed orange soldier. Appule was still sent out to search for villages by Zarbon, however, and returned to Freeza's Spaceship offscreen). Vegeta was meant to be queried upon recovery, however, the situation gew awry when Vegeta escaped from the Rejuvenation Tank and killed Appule.

Appule later appeared in Hell (alongside Freeza, Cell, King Cold, Recoome, Butta, Jheese, Ghurd, Dr. Gero, and Babidi) and watched the fight between Son Goku and Kid Boo.

The Appule-like Dodoria's Elite member, or Appule wearing his outfit, made a cameo appearance in Dragon Ball GT where he was defeated as he flew out of Hell.

Video games

Appule made his first playable appearance in the Japanese and European Wii versions of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2. He was later established as a permanent character in all regional ports of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

Appule also appeared in Dragon Ball Z: Sūpā Saiya Densetsu.

Voice actors

  • In Dragon Ball Z: Bardock: The Father of Goku, an Appule-like fighter is the first member of Dodoria's Elite to be killed by Bardock.
  • Several other members of Appule's race make appearances during the Garlic Jr. Saga when Vegeta searches for Goku in outer space, all of whom are easily wiped out by Vegeta. Members of Appule's race also appear in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn.
  • Appule's biography in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 incorrectly states many details about him, such as saying that it is he who injures Vegeta (when it is Super Zarbon instead).
  • Budokai Tenkaichi 3 also states that he is a mid-ranking soldier in Freeza's Force, above Freeza Soldier in rank and lower than Dodoria, Kewie, and Zarbon.
  • If you fight against Freeza using Appule, they have a dialogue where Freeza blames Appule for not having his wish of immortality. If you fight against Nail using Appule, they have a dialogue where Nail assumes Appule is the one who attacked the Namekian villages. Appule's responds, "All Namekians must die!" If you fight against Vegeta (Scouter) using Appule, they have a dialogue where Vegeta calls him a low-class warrior. Appule's responds, "I will drag you before Lord Frieza". Appule's victory remark is "Don't make me go any further, little Vegeta."
