The Universal Genki Dama (全世界 の 元気 玉, Zensekai no Genki Dama; FUNimation "Universal Spirit Bomb"; Literally meaning "Universal Innate Spirit Ball") is an energy sphere attack used by Son Goku.

History

Dragon Ball GT

The Universal Genki Dama is the final and most powerful version of the Genki Dama. It draws its phenomenal power from energy sources across the whole universe. It was used as a final attack to defeat Omega Shen Long.

After Goku and Vegeta had lost their Gogeta transformation as well as their Super Saiyan 4 transformation, the battle against Omega seemed hopeless. As Omega was about to kill the Z Warriors, however, Goku – thought to have been killed while trying to stop an energy ball from destroying Planet Earth – rose up from a crater and prepared the Super Genki Dama with the energy from Earth's people. Even so, it was still not powerful enough to defeat Omega.

Thanks to the help of North Kaio and the other Kaios, however, Goku was able to ask every person in the universe to donate their energy to the Genki Dama, thus creating the Universal Genki Dama. With the attack ready, Goku launched the Universal Genki Dama at Omega and completely destroyed the Evil Dragon, moving it upward into the sky where it finally burst into a massive, black explosion. With all of the Evil Dragons finally defeated, the Dragon Balls were restored to their normal states.

Video games

It is named Spirit Bomb in Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World. It is not the strongest of the Genki Dama in this game due to its usage only being available in his base form. It also appeared in a cutscene in which Goku used it to defeat Omega.

It is named Spirit Bomb in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and is Goku (GT)'s Ultimate Blast. While it is the largest and strongest version out of all the other Genki Dama in the anime, it is the smallest version in this game (other than Goku (Early)'s version) possibly due to Goku's stature as a child.

Data books

It is named Sūpā Urutora Genki Dama (超ウルトラ 元気 玉, Chō-urutora Genki Dama; Literally meaning "Super Ultra Innate Spirit Ball") in the Japanese dub of "Universal Allies" and Dragon Ball GT: Pāfekuto Fairu Vol. 1.

Trivia

  • It should be noted that (in one of DBGT's infamous plot holes) Goku is immune to Omega's attacks when he gathers energy for the Universal Genki Dama.
