Biography[edit]

Dragon Ball Z[edit]

Shapner was a friend of Erasa and semi-friend of Son Gohan and Son Videl. He was a typical jock-like guy who thought he was better than "that book nerd" Gohan. When he was at the Tenkaichi Tournament, he saw that Gohan had amazing powers and was the Great Saiyaman as well as the Golden Warrior. Before the tournament, it was shown that he was in love with Videl when he gave Videl some flowers and tried to explain his feelings, but stopped when he saw the Great Saiyaman (Gohan in disguise). Videl then walked away with the Great Saiyaman. After this, Sharpner tried to unmask the Great Saiyaman because he believed that it would impress Videl. None of his attempts to unmask Saiyaman proved successful. He tried to dive on him and take the scarf off his head, but missed because the Great Saiyaman was bending down to pick up Ginyu the frog. Then, he got a kid to spray him in the face with a squirt gun, causing him to take his sunglasses off. Sharpner almost got a picture of him with his camera, but a man who wanted to compete in the tournament stood up, blocking Gohan from view. Then, Sharpner got another kid to get the Great Saiyaman to lift him up so he could see, and he took the Great Saiyaman's sunglasses off. Sharpner got a picture this time (though he couldn't see Gohan's face himself because the shutter was moving). Unfortunately for him, Piccolo destroyed all the cameras, including Sharpner's. He did not discover the Great Saiyaman's true identity until his fight with Kibito. Upon seeing Gohan as the Great Saiyaman, he was convinced by Erasa that Gohan was merely using the title in shyness, and that their classmate does not know any martial arts. Despite this, they cheered him on, saying that he must at least win one round. They were all shocked to see him transform into the Golden Warrior.

He was killed when Super Boo annihilated all the humans on earth, though he was later restored to life with the Dragon Balls. He was seen giving up energy for Son Goku's Spirit Bomb, along with Eraza and the others at the school, all cheering for Hercule, whom they thought they were giving their energy to. He does not make an appearance in Dragon Ball GT.
